C. C. Vaughn papers, 1898-1927 [manuscript].

Letters and other materials relating to C. C. Vaughn. Materials 1898-1899 are chiefly letters to his wife in Franklin, Va., from Vaughn in training camp at Richmond and with the troops in Cuba, first at Havana and later at Santiago de Cuba. These letters include some information about camp life and the conduct of the war, but they are primarily concerned with deals Vaughn made for timber land around Santiago de Cuba. Most materials 1907-1912 relate to Brigadier General Vaughn's efforts to secure training grounds for his troops; 1916 materials concern readying his men for muster into the U.S. Army.
